12:29 am - Puri becomes 12-15 years old again. So I just finished reading Blubber after trying to search for Judy Blume's Forever for the sole purpose of giggling over the bad sex. ("AND WE MADE LOVE ON THE HOT ROCK~~~~ lulz") "Ah ha ha, no." That's a comment I often thought to myself sarcastically as I read. Maybe I'm just bitter because I had to read the entire book from the POV of a snotty shallow little girl named Jill I kept wishing bad things to happen to. (Which did. But ONLY when she did something fucking right for a change) By "bad things", I mean physical torture to make her scream and you know, think for a change. Why is there no description of the kids trying to talk to the oblivious teachers or principles and merely shrugged off and told "just ignore them"? 'Cause I'd totally buy it. Hell, the teachers in the book are stupid enough. It would've made the message about bullying more powerful instead of you know, kids harassing and trying to rape this little girl in the cafeteria while the teachers watch on drinking coffee without doing a damn thing. (Cue Puri gnashing her teeth on those little things they missed) "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH BUT MR. MACHINIST DESERVED IT EVEN THOUGH WE BROKE ROTTEN EGGS IN HER MAILBOX WAAAAAAAHWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH OOH BLUBBER REPORTED US IT'S ALL HER FAULT" BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. There's a reason he keeps those whippersnappers outta his lawn, you know. Also the letter Jill (the brat) wrote to the stamp company was unnecessary and disgusting. Puri was waiting for Blubber (aka Linda) to flip out, commit suicide or pull a Columbia and tried to shoot everyone at the school. (You never know what 5th graders could do). But dammit, she was WAY too passive. Exqueeze me, but as someone who's been bullied, I was a real damn bitter kid back at those dark times, and would not STAND for them bothering me. I always complained to my parents, teachers, principles, counselors... the most my parents could do was move me out of school and try to set me in places with the least contact with other kids. Teachers and the rest, they'd be "lol, just ignore them" no matter how many times I tried telling them it did not fucking work. At the end of the book, Jill the brat sees a play and comments about wishing it was like Harriet the Spy where the kids dressed as vegetables. (Man, I hated Harriet the Spy. I couldn't stop bawling my eyes out and ranting) Me? Middle School-Age Puri would've wanted Sweeney Todd. Guess that makes me a freak by nature, huh? This is why I like books like Carrie, since the bullies and everybody who deserved it go through much-needed physical agony. I like seeing my oppressors suffer for a change. 10:12 pm - Mother 3 would be the Soccer Mom Nightmare. What's the line between responsibility and censorship? You remember your favorite kids classics growing up, like Disney or Bluth or whatever? We go back to watch them again and we realize "Holy shit, this is dark stuff." Take All Dogs Go To Heaven. Rated G. Smushy and cute, right? Wrong. There's gambling, smoking and drinking. We kiddies didn't think much of it back then, but to today's Health Department, it's OMG A BIG DEAL!1!11 and would smack a PG rating for a single puff alone. There's a detailed sequence of both Heaven and Hell (the latter which I recall gave many kids nightmares. Not me, but still scary), so fundies would be automatically pissed. There's death and murder and guns--lots and lots of guns. At which point the soccer moms are screaming. Oh, and there's a scene where Itchy gets beaten up by gangsters. Wow, that's cheery. So it's just Bluth right? Nope, Disney's sinister too. If I recall, The Great Mouse Detective had a bar and a prostitute. Don't get me started on The Hunchback of Notre Dame either, and it's sugary compared to the book... and STILL dark. Puri loves all these movies and have fond memories of them from as a kid. It's not like I was OH GOD DAMAGED FOR LIFE!!1!1! like the soccer moms claimed. I knew death happened. I still cried, but hey. Fact of life. I wasn't stupid enough to try smoking on my own. Hell, a lotta the darker themes went over my head until I was already old enough to understand anyway. If an enraged soccer mom whined about the meaning of Frollo's "Hellfire" being him wanting to keep and molest Esmerelda, I'd just give her a confused look and go "...Huh?" When you're a kid, this stuff goes over your head. So who cares? Since when did people equate G-rated films with stupid shallow happy fluff with no mention of bad evil things like "death" whatsoever? I thought G movies were for everybody, not clueless toddlers that later grow up and get sick and gag at anything labeled "family friendly". Just because something is G-rated doesn't mean it's for ignorant oblivious Peter Pan wannabes. They're capable of substance and conquer just as much as a PG-13 or R movie can. Animation is a medium, not a genre: it's another way to convey various topics. Just look at Miyazaki and anime! Maybe I'm just scared of soccer moms trying to sugarcoat everything and poison our memories. GUESS WHAT MA: BAMBI'S MOM IS DEAD. Not saying G-rated film should allow gore and guts or anything like that. There's a fine fine line between having your 5-year-old kid watch Snow White and the SAW films. But if it crosses censorship ("OH NOES IT HAS AN UNHAPPY ENDING!!11!1"), that's when I'll have to look at you like you're the thought police. I worked backstage for when my Mom and her best friend (and everyone in the Chattanooga Little Theater) performed Sweeney Todd. I don't remember how old I was then; I just know a lotta the themes went over my head. (Hell, I forgotten Mrs. Lovett had a creepy obsession with Todd! XD) I was basically, "Okay, Sweeney wants revenge on the evil Judge who locked him up and took away his wife and daughter. Okay! :D" Puri was a timid one who always covered her eyes and looked away from the throat-slicing scenes. Other than that, Puri was just fine and adored the musical to pieces. :o /was the only little girl who sang "Johanna" in line for entering Dollywood. In the theater, you got a red cut and fake blood on the throat, that was it. If the Tim Burton movie had come out while I was still that age, Mom and Dad would've NEVER let me see it. XDDDDD! Or at least sit with me and tell me not to look at the gory parts, but even then, it's a dark film. Puri would've been too scared. She would've stuck with her theater memories until then. See? Puri has responsible parents. Nomnomnomnomnom. ♥ Soccer moms aren't thinking what's best for their kid. 03:22 pm Nightmare aside, I had this twinkly melody composed in my head. Gameboyish and gorgeous. It's in the same key as "Black Balloon" and it sounds like something that could fit into a Kirby game soundtrack. (Might be similar to Fallin' Love too) It's hard to record sounds on paper when you don't know how to set up the key and hence, don't know how to organize the notes. Figures I'd forget that pretty melody later. Goddamn it. Sonic FF.netters: If a story says The End in clear bold letters, that means there's NO more chapters. Also? There is NO sequel. 10:48 pm - This week on fannish5! What are your five least favorite romances, in canon? 1. Harry/Ginny. No seriously, I frothed at this since Chamber of Secrets. Let's see: little girl gets shallow crush on Harry Potter because he's The Boy Who Lived while Harry proceeds to ignore her existence until she's kidnapped (and of course he saves her! He's not an asshole). By Order of the Phoenix, Ginny gets over her crush on Harry and guess what? She gets a PERSONALITY! She's cheerful, spunky, and while she has her flaws, she overall has her head on her shoulders and she handled boys and romance waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the petty boyfriend/girlfriend wankfest of Half-Blood Prince. But no. Harry had to have a crush on her again. The angst relating to it was stupid ("Oh noes Ron I'm in love with your sister!") and the "monster in his chest" thing? Total bullshit. ("J.K. Rowling obviously doesn't know teenage boys. The monster's not in his chest... it's in his pants!" --Ivy) I was so rooting for it NOT to happen and gaaaaaaah. HBP's end was so typically Spiderman and painful. Since then Ginny's character detoriated to nothing but a Mary-Jane clone and the "Waaaaaah waaaaaaah! I wanna help Harry too!" "Nono Ginny you can't fight 'cause you're too young you stay here!" makes me just GAH! I gagged when they got married. There, said it. Ah well, at least I like Ron/Hermione. 2. Yamato/Sora. Uh wut? Okay, where did that one come from? I think I remember Yamato and Jyou trying to talk to Sora outta her depression late in 01, but that's all the subtext I can remember. Where did the whole dating Yamato thing come from in 02? I mean, I don't consider myself a Taiora fan, but yeesh, at least it makes sense and can see why people were upset it didn't happen. I like Kenyako, so I was actually happy it happened. And see? It actually had growth! And subtext! I saw it coming before Episode 50. But Sorato? Nuh uh. Not from ten billion miles away man. Just random and irritating and I don't like that at all. XD 3. Sonic/Amy. Okay, so it's not FULLY canon, but I hope it doesn't happen. Which Amy do you like better: the badass Amy who fights for her friends Ike*Style, or the clingy whiny Amy that cares more for Sonic than Silver's (and our) future? I rest my case. 4. Tails/Fiona. Tails is only gonna get stomped on again and again and again and again. D: 5. Ash/Mina. Or hey, it could just be me spitting in Ash's face 'cause he's such an asshole (and not the good kind). 02:03 pm - Edward Scissorhands-ish dream. Apparently, my dreams are the place to go if I want ideas for original novels. Like for some reason, family and cousins and I go to this freezing place where the road is too thin for the entire car to drive on. We meet these robotic-like mannequins and animals (called "polygraphs" or something like that) that want to be human but have to stay inside. 'Cause if they're exposed to cold air or hostile thoughts, they turn to vicious zombie-like werewolf creatures that try to slaughter everything around them. Someone had the brilliant idea to host a premiere of Sweeney Todd. Puri tries to sing to the mannequins the instrumental version of the Ballad. The animals are driven outside and go psychotic, and the human mannequins inside go berserk. But with all this killing going on, the show goes on. Cue lots of chopping off of parts and gore. Meanwhile, in a Disney's Pocahontas-like revelation, several of the animals discovered that they CAN overcome their primal violent thoughts and in turn, become "real". They go outside to fight and save as many polygraphs as possible. In the end, a cocker spaniel, a golden retriever (Irish setter?), a dragon who looks like Spyro, and a ferret survive and become real. Everyone else is slaughtered. But for some reason, an squirrel becomes human and she and an Edward Scissorhands look-a-like float around in an icy kingdom Peter Pan and Wendy style and live happily ever after. (Well, to quote, "We may not be the happiest, but we have our paradise and we can't be hurt again.") A Dr. Saturn polygraph makes a cameo appearance. In a dream completely unrelated to the other dream, someone recites a rap based on Pokemon's "Bye Bye Butterfree" episode. If only I could remember the exact lines, it was actually kinda clever! XDDD;;; I guess JibJab's Matzoh rap is still stuck in my head, huh? 08:00 am - Even the sun's got a price tag on it Puri's finally found what may be the only SMRPG doujinshi in existence. The bad news? It's about Peach being raped by Booster. (Oh yeah, and she comes to enjoy it, so it's perfectly okay! *cough*) Mario, Mallow and Geno are turned into muscular thugs and guess what? Mario decides to randomly rape Toad's girlfriend while the poor helpless guy is held back and forced to watch. Just thank god I was RPing innocent Geno/Mallow with Jean at the time. Paula pedophiles need to die in a special kind of hell. Is it bad enough I've gotten paranoid to the point where I'm wary of men who store a kajillion Paula favorites on DA? Sometimes I wonder if I'm turning sexist. Then I'm reminded it's the lecherous rapists I hate, so nevermind. Not only did I kick Carpainter's butt, Ness is also uber right now: he's level 19. Paula killed a Spinning Robo with one PSI Freeze, and that was back when she was still Level 1! *_________________* I left a Teddy Bear with Tracy so that left Paula with TWO FUCKING TEDDY BEARS which helped her go through Peaceful Rest Valley unscathed as she leveled~ ♥ Puri found a closer place to heal too... just visit Frank. :o No phones though, that's the only downside.
